Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers High Grass Dogs Live from the Fillmore

If your ideal concert experience depends on flashpots, lasers, and fabulous costumes, turn back now. On the other hand, if you're looking for no-frills, straight-ahead rock & roll played with good humor and passion, you've come to the right place. Filmed in March '99 at San Francisco's legendary Fillmore and seen here in letterbox format with great sound, High Grass Dogs finds Tom Petty and his Heartbreakers in fine form, charging through a series of tunes from the guitarist-singer-songwriter's first album ("Breakdown") to his latest (four tunes from Echo). Petty's core musicians (guitarist Mike Campbell, bassist Howie Epstein, and keyboardist Benmont Tench) have been together for so long that their onstage communication is almost telepathic; the emphasis is always on dynamics and interplay instead of bombast. There may not be any surprises here, with the possible exception of an appearance by Bo Diddley on his own "Mona," but that's a good thing. Indeed, the only mystery may be where Petty came up with that weird title ..........................Songs Include: Intro/California, Jammin' Me, Runnin' Down a Dream, Swingin', Breakdown, Listen to Her Heart, You Don't Know How It Feels, Mary Jane's Last Dance, Mona/Bo Diddley, Lay Down My Old Guitar, Even the Losers, Walls, Angel Dream, Room at the Top, County Farm, You Wreck Me, I Don't Wanna Fight, Free Fallin', Free Girl Now.

He's speaking about mutant capabilities, obviously, and showcases his by levitating a champagne bucket. When it is time for Professor X's demonstration, he's just a little fun by looking into making Angel see Magneto not inside a snappy suit, however in a hairpiece and sparkly blue dress. Begin to see the clip following the jump. The erased scene is going to be about the DVD, which arrives September 9. [begin to see the full clip in British at EW]

Film Clip Really wants to Direct 'Line of Sight' Just like a First-Person-Shooter Game

Film Clip is thinking of getting his 4th directorial effort, but despite the fact that he'd once more take part in the lead, we'd likely see much less of him compared to 'The Town.' Based on THR, the thriller 'Line of Sight' could be shot from "a place-of-view similar to an initial-person shooter game." And also the script did just obtain a polish by one Peter O'Brien, who authored the overall game 'Halo: Reach' for Xbox 360 360. Is first-person POV the following new trend? Portions of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' trailer engage in this way and director James Grey lately introduced that's how he intends to direct his rogue spy thriller 'The Grey Guy,' which may star Kaira Pitt. Like every good (or bad) movie gimmick, it has been done before, obviously. Go ahead and take curiosity in the nineteen forties, 'Lady within the Lake,' which Robert Montgomery directed. He also starred within the film as detective Philip Marlowe, whom the crowd never glimpsed unless of course he looked inside a mirror. These new films may not go ahead and take trend that far, but browse the original trailer for 'Lady within the Lake,' which recommended its "startling and new approach to storytelling" because the finest factor since seem. 'Line of Sight,' incidentally, is all about a top-notch commando squad moving cargo while handling a global threat. Not sure about the character from the cargo or even the threat. The project was acquired by Warner Bros.-based Silver Pictures in March like a spec compiled by F. Scott Frazier. Affleck just started production now on 'Argo,' the Iran hostage drama, that will film in La as well as in Istanbul. Is first-person POV in movies a positive thing or perhaps a bad factor? Fox to bow 'Miss Bala,' 'Yellow Sea' in U.S.

'Miss Bala'Fox Intl. Prods., the studio's busy local-language production arm for overseas releases, is about to give some of its slate a specialty theatrical push in the U.S.: Gerardo Naranjo's Mexican crime drama "Miss Bala" and Hong-jim Na's South Korean crime thriller "The Yellow Sea" will get limited domestic runs through 20th Century Fox. Studio will unspool "Bala" Oct. 14 in New York while "Yellow" will also unspool some time in the fall. D Films prexy David Dinerstein is working with Fox to strategize domestic marketing and distribution for both pics, with discussions for future films in the works. Rollout plan for "Bala" and "Yellow," however, is something of a trial run for Fox and FIP. While the studio is discussing other potential releases, both films' success will determine whether the studio releases future Fox Int'l. pictures. News of both pics comes three months after Fox announced its Fox World Cinema label, designed to capitalize on the North American ancillary value of FIP films. Some earlier FIP titles (such as last year's Indian romantic drama "My Name Is Khan") have unspooled via Searchlight or bypassed U.S. theaters entirely. "Miss Bala" premiered in Cannes' Un Certain Regard section this May and has secured a spot in both the Toronto Film Festival's Contemporary World Cinema lineup and the New York Film Festival this fall. "Bala," exec produced by Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna and Geminiano Pineda, is a co-production of Canana and FIP. "The Yellow Sea" (aka "The Murderer") also played in Cannes' Un Certain Regard section after its December 2010 Korean release and earned star Jung-woo Ha best actor kudos at the Asian Film Awards. "Sea" is a Popcorn Film production in association with Showbox/Mediaplex Inc and FIP. Under head Sanford Panitch, FIP produces some 25 films a year, only some of which are considered a good fit for a U.S. release. FIP and other studio local-language production divisions generally aim for fare more commercial than typical U.S. foreign-language arthouse releases. They're usually designed for specific territories and not expected to be released domestically. Sony's international arm released the monster hit "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" via its Classics arm more than a decade ago to wild success, but few examples of such synergy have followed. Music Box's success with its "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" trilogy of thrillers may be influencing Fox and some other studios to rethink the potential of their foreign-language fare. Dinerstein's D outfit has seen success with this year's roadshow rollout of Kevin Smith's "Red State," racking up big box office by tying screenings to Smith's lecture appearances. Prior to establishing his consultancy, Dinerstein was prexy of Lakeshore Entertainment and co-prexy of Paramount Classics. Rachel Abrams contributed to this report. Russian Dolls: TV Review

By now, reality television viewers have learned that if you want to understand a culture, the best thing to do is study its women. From the Mob Wives of Staten Island to the Real Housewives of just about everywhere else, female protagonists have proved the perfect guides into worlds that otherwise would seem impenetrable, be they the bedrooms of organized-crime figures or the country-club banquet halls of the snooty upper crust. The latest female-led immersion course to hit the airwaves is Lifetime's Russian Dolls, a sassy piece of voyeuristic candy that explores the Russian immigrant community of Brighton Beach, N.Y. Fittingly, the show begins with a Russian proverb on the screen: "God can't be everywhere, so he created Russian mothers." What follows is a generational dance whose central theme is how much influence Mother Russia should still have on her Americanized children living in Brooklyn. "I'm dating this guy, Paul," Diana, a 23-year-old platinum blonde, tells the camera with Jersey Shore-esque levels of self-awareness. "Paul has a Maserati." The trouble with Paul, however, is that he's "Spanish" (by that, she evidently doesn't mean "from Madrid"), and her equally blond mother, Anna, doesn't go for Uncle Sam's melting-pot relationships. "Please don't hurt me," she warns Diana during a borscht-making lesson. "Don't hurt my family." But, alas, Dolls is no West Side Story, and Diana's dilemma as to whether to dump Paul proves somewhat skin-deep. "I am always judged," she confides to her spray-tanned, frosted-lipstick-covered roommate. "Like, I believe in plastic surgery, I believe in Botox -- I believe in all these things that maybe the way that they were raised, they don't understand it." The other major conflict in the premiere involves Marina, the middle-aged co-owner of the legendary Rasputin nightclub, who is worried that her belly-dancing mother-in-law will embarrass her at a sexy-grandmother pageant. "Only young women in bikinis; no old ladies in belly-dancing outfits," Marina tells her friends. "No thank you." When it comes to jewelry shopping, however, Marina is far less conservative. "It's not about being flashy -- we work very hard for our success," she says while trying on 11-carat diamond bracelets at a local boutique. "It's about showing it off. That's how it is in Brighton Beach." Saving Dolls from simply becoming a Jersey Shore also-ran, executive producers Banks Tarver (Mob Wives) and Ken Druckerman (This American Life) have wisely widened the generational focus of the drama. Although Lifetime has been pushing the sex appeal of its younger female protagonists at every opportunity, the real hope for this series lies not with Snooki knockoffs but a deeper exploration of how cultural identity morphs over time. From watching the premiere episode, it's hard to say whether the reality TV frame will facilitate more than a superficial examination of the issues of gender, class and heritage that might be lurking deep inside the babushka-doll heroines presented here. But if we're going to learn about the Russian immigrant experience, these women aren't a bad place to start. Lifetime
