Showtimes New Drama Homeland Has Solid Premiere, Dexter Posts Record High
Showtime’s new drama Homeland opened with 1.08 million audiences last evening, delivering the pay cable systems greatest-ranked drama debut in eight years, since Dead Much Like Me’s 1.11 million in June 2003. It had been the 3rd consecutive Showtime drama series premiere to publish Showtime’s best amounts since Dead Much Like Me, beginning with Shameless (982,000) in The month of january and Borgias (1.06 million) in April. But while Shameless and Borgias broadcast at 9 PM, Homeland went at 10 PM, following a blockbuster sixth season premiere of Dexter (2.two million), that was 24% from this past year and marked the hit series’ greatest-ranked premiere ever and Showtime’s best original series opener in 14 years, since Stargate in 1997. Such as the 11 PM and 1 AM, encores, the Dexter premiere averaged 2.76 million audiences, up 18% from this past year. Homeland, which held onto 1 / 2 of its Dexter lead-in, averaged an overall total of just one.38 million audiences for that evening, invoice discounting within the 12 AM and a pair of AM encores. Including online/on-demand pre-premiere viewing, the Homeland premiere episode continues to be seen by 2.78 million.
